Role Overview: As an (SEN) Teaching Assistant, you’ll step into our primary/secondary school classrooms, helping to create an engaging learning experience for students in conjunction with the Teacher. Your adaptability and passion for education will be crucial in helping support young people with varying needs in order to help maintain a consistent and quality learning environment for those you support and encounter.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising students in the classroom, ensuring the completion of lesson tasks.
  • Implementing targeted interventions to support student development according to their SEN needs and support plan.
  • Managing and addressing student behaviour in accordance with the school’s behaviour system and safeguarding policies.
  • Providing support during school trips and outings.
  • To demonstrate an empathetic approach towards students and to have genuine concern for their development throughout their time in school.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Possess prior experience in working with individuals with Learning Disabilities or Autism.
  • Any relevant Level 3-5 qualification or an (undergraduate/postgraduate degree)
  • Demonstrate a strong passion for engaging with neurodiverse students.
  • Capably build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying classroom scenarios.
  • Training can also be provided for exceptional candidates.
